The passage speaks about being a DOER of the WORD and not just a hearer. In your Christian walk, it’s not enough to be someone who just hears the word and never acts on the words that they hear. When I say the WORD I am referring to the Word of God. In James 1:22-25, the word of the Lord says, “But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in the mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets, but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing”

Let me encourage you young people to be DOERS of God’s Word. Be people who hear the Word of God and act accordingly so that through your actions the glory of Jesus Christ will radiate from you. Do not look in the mirror and see your imperfections and go away and do nothing about it. Do not be someone who knows what the Word of God says and does nothing with what they have learnt. Be a DOER of the WORD, and let the Word of God be deeply rooted in you, and in turn you will blessed in all that you do! Amen!

From The Fire Album

Blog

As some of you know or may not know, I am currently working on an rap/worship album entitled From the Fire. The Lord is so good to us!! I remember waking up thinking today is going to be a good day and I have to admit a few days prior I wasn’t even sure what I was going to wear! Thanks to the help of the Koleoso’s I was given a Nigerian outfit to wear, so all was okay. I hear you saying “but you’re not Nigerian”… and you would be right, but Mauritius and Jamaica don’t really have a national outfit for men so I decided that it would be best to wear another nations clothing.

To those of you teens who couldn’t make it, you really did miss out! The atmosphere was electric, and the joy of the Lord was so evident for all to see. If any of you are new to the church and this was your first International Day, I hope you had a great time too. It reminded me of our New Years Eve Celebration, which again was another fantastic day, and considering how fast this year is going New Years Eve will be here before we know it!

Testimony: Femi Koleoso

Blog

Hi, my name is Femi Koleoso and I have been coming to Jubilee church North London for… well all my life. Yes, you’ve probably gathered I am in fact Tope Koleoso’s son, who is the lead pastor in our church. I was asked by Leo, the Youth Leader in Jubilee to write a little bit about my Christian journey. So here it comes and I hope you’re blessed by it.
I gave my life Christ at the age of 6. You’re most likely thinking, that’s way to young, but I see it like this, I had a brain, I had an understanding of heaven and hell and I knew I wanted to go to heaven. I spoke to my dad about this and my dad then led me to Christ. Now at age 6, you’re not going to be reading your bible in depth, and lets face it, your more worried about playing with your action men than living for the Lord. And that’s how it was for me.
Now something interesting happened at age 6, which was going to shape the rest of my life. At church one day, church had finished, and my attention was drawn towards the drum kit, being the confident young boy I was, I decided to have a go. Just messing about my parents saw how much joy I was experiencing and decided to buy me a kit for my birthday. They most likely wish they had purchased a piano or guitar, as many noisy years in the household were to follow. At age 8, there was no one to play the drums at church, I then put my hand up and said I would do it. And that was when it began, age 8 I first drummed in church, ‘til this day I can still remember the songs we played, one of which being ‘Wonderful so wonder aka beautiful one’
Now I used the phrase that the decision to first go on the drum kit shaped my life, and it has, significantly. Through my love for drumming, that translated into a love for worship, which made my relationship with the Lord more personal. Music became my passion and I wasn’t happier than when I was banging out the drums. Skip a few years and I am now a 16 year old boy, aspiring to be a professional musician, drumming in various bands in London and teaching drums on a weekly basis as a day job, but more importantly I want to live a God centered life and serve God through music and touch lives and that’s what a I strive for everyday. Now being a teenage Christian is not easy. Temptations seem to be thrown at you left right and center, but it’s the rooting that I have which keeps me on the straight and narrow. Rooting comes from Worship, prayer and up keeping a real and alive relationship with your king. With that there is nothing stopping you from achieving your dreams and ambitions!
My favourite verse in the bible really sums up how I approach my life.
Philippians 4:4 – I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.
Seek the Lord first and all things are possible!
Any teens reading this and wanting to get in the Jubilee circles or just talk to me hit me on facebook/twitter
Facebook-Femi Drummer Koleoso or Twitter- @FemiJazzDrummer
Thank you and God bless!

NEWDAY 2011 BOOKINGS

Blog

This is another reminder about Newday 2011 – Phil sent out a message on Facebook explaining that the next price increase will be on 14th May, so it’s time to start nagging your parents to get you booked in. The first is in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8, where the Apostle Paul reminds us that we should know how to control our own body as we were not called for impurity but in holiness. He explains that God is against these things, and that if we ignore this, we are not ignoring man, but ignoring our Lord God Almighty.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 (ESV)
For this is the will of God,your sanctification:that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

The other is in 1 Corinthians 10:13 where the Apostle Paul tell us that as followers of Christ, temptation will come. But the temptation you come across will be nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that man has not be tempted with before. Paul explains that God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can handle, and that when you are tempted he will provide a way out for you. His Holy Spirit will guide you and speak to you, because your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which God has given to you.

1 Corinthians 10:3 (NIV)
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it

PAUL’S LETTERS TO A YOUNG MAN NAMED TIMOTHY

Blog

Over the last month I have been reading the two books of Timothy, and have been blessed by the instruction and teaching that the Apostle Paul writes about. There is much in these books that I feel will speak to you, and I would encourage you all to take time out to read and meditate on these books. I am convinced that Pauls letters to Timothy will help you in your walk with God, as there are many references to things that you as the younger generation will see, things that you will face, and things that you may possibly be going through right now.

For example, in 1 Timothy, Paul writes about those who wander away from the faith and about those who do not agree with the teachings of Jesus. He also talks about those who love money, and because of this love they fall into many temptations.

In both books, Paul warns, and gives instruction to Timothy in the way he should act, and also what he should pursue.

As you read the verses below, I pray that your hearts will be open to receive the word of God, and that your minds will be renewed:

1 Timothy 6:8-12
But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you O man of God, flee these things. Pursue rightouesness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses (ESV).

It is important for you to realise that God is shaping and moulding you guys to be future pastors, future church planters, future small group leaders, future worship leaders, future missionaries. YOU ARE THE NEXT GENERATION who God is wanting to use for his works, to glorify his name!

Whilst writing this, God has put on my heart for you the verse in Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God (ESV)

I pray that the books of Timothy will ignite the flame within you, and that you will seek and pursue Gods will for your lives – his good, pleasing and perfect will!!

THAT’S MY KING … do you know him??

Blog

Our relationship with Jesus is so precious, and it is important that we know our KING … that we know who we serve!!
